POLICIES, PROCEDURES, & GUIDELINES:

Prior to participating, all participants must review the SCGA’s Policies & Procedures and COVID-19 Guidelines for Competitions.

 

FORMAT:

  • All players will compete in an 18-hole, net stroke-play championship. 
  • The championship field will be divided evenly into flights based on each player’s Handicap Index as of November 23.   

 

Flight Breakdown

 

Classic Club:

  • Arroyo Flight: Participants with Handicap Indexes of 5.6 and below.
  • Mission Flight: Participants with Handicap Indexes of 5.7 – 7.7.

 

La Quinta Resort:

  • Mountain Flight: Participants with Handicap Indexes 7.8 – 9.5.
  • Pacific Flight: Participants with Handicap Indexes 9.6 – 13.1.

 

Indian Wells Golf Resort (Players Course):

  • Palm Flight: Participants with Handicap Indexes 13.2 – 18.2.
  • San Andreas Flight: Participants with Handicap Indexes 18.3 and above.

 

  • During the championship, players will use their Handicap Index (as of November 23) and will receive 95% of their Course Handicap (unless otherwise noted by the SCGA).
  • Awards will be given to those who finish in 1st through 5th place in each flight. 
  • All ties at the championship will be broken using the USGA suggested method of matching scorecards (Committee Procedures: Section 5A (6)).

 

REGISTRATION:

All participants must check in at the SCGA registration table upon arrival Monday morning. Registration will begin at 6:30 a.m. 

 

STARTING TIMES & PAIRINGS: 

  • Starting times and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted on scga.org one week in advance of the qualifier.
  • Starting times will range from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 9:30 a.m. off Holes 1 and 9.
  • Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss with each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive once the preceding group has teed off.
  • Materials such as tees, pencils, and hole location sheets will not be distributed until further notice. Refer to the SCGA COVID-19 Guidelines for Competitions for further instructions.

   

TEES & YARDAGE:

  • Men will play from the YELLOW yardage and tee markers. Course Rating: 70.6 / Slope: 126 / 6,326 yards / Par 72. 
  • Women will play from the RED yardage and tee markers. Course Rating: 71.3 / Slope: 122 / 5,108 yards / Par 72.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

  • Players may make arrangements for practice rounds at their own expense.
  • Indian Wells Golf Resort will be offering a promotional practice round rate of $99 that can be accessed by championship participants on December 4 – 6. To access this rate, click here and insert the promo code “scga” at checkout.
  • Practice rounds prior to December 4 may be secured online at regular resort rates.   

 

DRIVING RANGE:

  • The driving range will be available by 6:30 a.m. on the day of the championship.
  • Range balls will be set up on the driving range compliments of Indian Wells Golf Resort and the SCGA.
  • Players should arrive on site no earlier than one hour prior to their starting time and must limit driving range usage to 15 minutes.

 

FOOD SERVICE & PURCHASES:

  • A food truck will be stationed near the practice facilities beginning at 6 a.m. The resort’s restaurant will open at 11 a.m. Players interested in having lunch at the restaurant should consider making reservations in advance of the championship.  
  • Players will be on their own for all food and beverage purchases and may pay with cash or major credit cards.

 

RULES OF PLAY:

 

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION, PULL/PUSH CARTS:

  • Automotive transportation is included with the entry fee.
  • Golf carts at Indian Wells Golf Resort are equipped with dividers. Each pairing group will be issued two carts and players who want to ride for the championship will share a cart with another participant.  
  • Players may walk if they choose to.
  • Pull or push carts are permitted.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

  • Caddies are prohibited until further notice.
  • Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club and must always maintain social distancing.

 

DRESS CODE:

  • Players must wear appropriate golf attire, consistent with the policies and expectations of the host venue.

 

CANCELATIONS, REFUNDS, & SUBSTITUTIONS:

  • To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of a SCGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Championships & Golf Operations Department at champs@scga.org or (818) 980-3630.
  • If a player needs to withdraw on the morning of the competition, notify the SCGA staff person through the golf shop staff at the host venue.
  • Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions.
  • Refund Policy:
    • Cancelation prior to the entry closing date: Full refund less a $10 administrative fee.
    • Cancelation after the entry closing date and more than 48 hours prior to the start of the competition: 50% of the entry fee.
    • Cancelation within 48 hours of the start of the competition: No refund.
